Matt has a rectangular garden that is 10 ft wide and 24 Ft long . He wants to build a fence from one corner to the opposite corner . How many feet of fence does Matt need ???

He needs 26 feet of fence.

The diagonal of the rectangle forms the hypotenuse of a right triangle.  The two legs would be the width of the rectangle, 10, and the length, 24:

10²+24² = c²
100+576 = c²
676 = c²
c = √676 = 26
