Subtract 16 from both sides gives:-
3 (x - 4)^4/3 = 64 - 16 = 48
divide both sides by 3:-
(x - 4)^4/3  = 16
x - 4  = 16^3/4
x - 4  = 2^3 = 8

x = 12
