The formula of a slope:

[tex]m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have:

[tex]A(2,\ 6)\to x_1=2,\ y_2=6\\\\B(8,\ -1)\to x_2=8,\ y_2=-1[/tex]

Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{-1-6}{8-2}=\dfrac{-7}{6}=-\dfrac{7}{6}[/tex]
