since tan x is positive, then cos x is also negative, by well known identity

[tex]cos \: x = - \sqrt{1 - {sin}^{2} x} = - \frac{5}{13} [/tex]

hence

[tex]tan \: x = \frac{sin \: x}{cos \: x} = \frac{12}{5} [/tex]
