No, minerals cannot be made of organic material. Other criteria for minerals are that they must be solid, a naturally occurring (but inorganic) material (Ex: natural diamonds), a universal chemical makeup (Ex: sand is not a mineral because it has a different makeup in different areas of the world), and they must be arranged in a regular pattern of crystals.
