How does the graph of the function g(x)=2x-4 differ from the graph of f(x)=2x

The -4 would be your y-intercept and the 2x would be your slope. So you would put a mark on the-4 on the y axis and go up 2 and to the right 1 to plot your line. The second one would put your starting dot on the (0,0) and go up 2 and to the right 1 to get your line. Because you would look at the 2x as 2/1x.
