South America had more promise, the 3 movies Tibet were god, glory, and gold. South America had gold, could provide glory if conquered and had people who could convert religions, hence god. South America mainly provided gold and jewels. North America provided raw goods

The explorers weren’t as eager to create colonies in the north since there wasn’t gold there like there was in the south. The south was better for farming and whatnot as well which also played into the want to settle in the south and whatnot. The north mainly provided raw goods while the south had items such as gold and jewels which were much more desirable.
