To multiply these parenthesis, you distribute
w*w=w^2
w*2=2w
-8*w=-8w
-8*2=-16

Then you add all these together for the answer:
w^2+2w-8w-16
w^2-6w-16 (combine like terms)

Hope this helps

(w−8)(w+2)=(w+−8)(w+2)=(w)(w)+(w)(2)+(−8)(w)+(−8)(2)=w2+2w−8w−16=w2−6w−16
