If a genetically modified fish was introduced into an aquaculture facility it may become an invasive species. This is because they do not support the naturally occurring processes that commercially raised fishes have. These invasive species have the ability to harm the thriving ecosystem of the aquaculture fishes, hence the probable decrease in its population might take effect.
