What is the domain of the function f(x) = 4x − 16?

This is a linear function. There are no issues with dividing by zero or taking the square root of a negative. Since we have no issues like that, we can plug in any number we want for x to get some output for f(x). 

This is why the domain is the set of all real numbers.
