Why do you think beowulf offers to help a tribe other than his own in spite of the danger?

Beowulf offered to help that tribe for a number of reasons. First of all, he was known as a great hero who defeated many monsters, so there was probably no one else in the world who could defeat Grendel other than him. Additionally, his father was Hrothgar's friend, so obviously his son had to help Hrothgar in trouble.
