x(x+2)=143
x^2+2x-143=0
(x+13)(x-11)=0
x=-13
x=11 solution
x+2=13 solution
proof
11*13=143
143=143

l=w+4
thus (w+4)w=117
w^2+4w-117=0
(w+13)(w-9)=0
w-9=0
w=8 for the width
l=9+4=13 for the length.
proof
9*13=117
117=117
