The specific binding site of cromolyn is on a protein that forms part of the calcium channel regulated by the IgE receptor. Cromolyn acts as a calcium channel blocker where it inhibits receptor-mediated influx of calcium into the cytoplasm of the mast cell and prevent allergic inflammatory responses.
