What did cheap land in the west, new farm machinery, and the growth of railroads lead to?

It led to rapid expansion of cities, home steads and farm land because the cheap land let many farms and ranch's be created along with new farming machinery which reduced the need for manned labor and Railroads allowed for cities to be connected easily which allowed for easier traveling between one another and trading of goods.
